Being vindictive

I have been accused of being vindictive, of hating Cablevision and writing this blog in order to damage TSG. This could not be further from the truth. I like the people I work with, I would never do something that would make our jobs more difficult. The supervisors, well you know how I feel about some and the others are just trying to get along in a crappy system. I don't hate management, I hope they can take some of my constructive criticism and improve the lot of myself and my fellow techs. Why I am doing this is posted on the description of my blog: ... to give you an insight into the workings of the call center as well as help you get inside the mind of the guy who is helping you.. If some of my posts are, ahhh, passionate, well, that's how I was feeling at the time.

If I were vindictive I sure could make things hell for management. Note that I have not posted any names, phone numbers, or email addresses. In fact if any names are mentioned in the comments, they are removed. If I were out for blood, I'd post the reachable from the outside phone numbers of TSG management and supervisors, you could go right to the top with your complaints. Got network problems? Here's the number to the VP of RFDN. Got email issues? Here, call the VP of the Bisc. But I would never do that, I want to fix the current system, not destroy it.

As an aside: to all my peeps and moles, keep up the email and thanks for the support! BUT let's have some ground rules. I have no idea if management is even aware of this blog, I've not heard a whisper about it from a supervisor or above. But in case they are, and are looking for the people involved, do the following. These are all common sense but keep them in mind.

  • Do not email ooltech@hushmail.com from work.
  • Do not post comments on the blog from work
  • Do not email from your personal @optonline.net acct. You never know if they are scanning outgoing mail for anyone emailing the hushmail address.

Thanks for all your help and remember, keep the comments clean!

You forgot to refer techs to www.organizeTSG.com which now has a new owner. Yes the site has been saved and no the owner is not the phantom blogger. It is a long term TSG rep. Long live the American labor movement! Unionize in 06!

very good topic, for I have been on that side of the fence as well as many other. If we come across as bitter, we are just expressing our feelings at that moment and the only ones to blame are the people creating that tension and doing nothing about it. This company will label all of us as people who hold vendetas against the company, morons, slackers, cry babies, etc, etc. In fact it's just the opposite and of course our emotions are high when we are talking about ones livelihood and supporting their family. We are not asking to be rich we are asking for changes from the head to tail in the way employees are perceived by the company. We should be an asset and not treated as a liability to your ASA. We have families to support and need something to carry us to retirement, not a 4 year burnout job. We need raises better than 30 cents a year, we need understanding from management, we need to be looked at as one, and not looked down upon as an ant some managers and sups do. Morale is deplorable and people have no pride in what they do. Then you will get the response of "just leave" because they will never change the way things are done to create a better environment, at least one that is tolerable, and that answer is not good enough, because I have put to much time in and it will not be wasted time. I will stay and fight, not for everything or something that would affect the company negatively, but as stated before for respect and my piece of the pie.

looks like you hate your job and the company you work for... If you hate it that bad, just get out.

The IT job market is not as bad as you claim it to be, so just get out if everything is that bad.

Lets face it, does anybody like working here? we are treated like children. Does not mean things can be changed for the better If they were willing to.

Did I even once mention hating my job, I hate the way we are treated and expected to perform for a 30 cent raise. Getting out is what the company wants, a continual turnover of employees..Isn't it enough already..and it's exactly what you want....sorry, not a good enough answer. Think I will stay and fight. If the field is opening up, why don't you leave?

Well if you don't hate your job, you obviously hate the company you work for. Yet one more reason to pack your bags and go work for someone else. I had my share of bad jobs which I did just to get by, but when I got fed up, I left.

You've got to realize that corporations are in business to make money and not to think how to make this guy happy so he wouldn't bitch about us all over the internet. If they were, we would be making 6 figures while working 2 days a week.

In any case, if you want to stay and fight, bitching your lungs out in this blog will not get you far...also you are forgetting a simple thing, all the people in other department that you've trashed so lovely work for the same company. Yet somehow you think that they got it better, and It's only you poor guy who has to deal with BS.

At 8:46 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So I guess you are admitting we have bad jobs, I am not asking for 6 figures and I am not asking to work 2 days a week, quit putting words in my mouth. I said we desreve respect, something cablevision does not know the meaning of. Never trashed any other department for we are all in the same boat, I here the same issues repeated in every department, I never said they have it better either, field techs have it even worse, and another thing do you really think it is just one guy that feels this way, you're kidding yourself and you're blind. Do other companies have 2 web sites and a Blog site indicating how horrible it is to work for their company....I hope not. I understand that companies are here to make money, but as far as treating your workers with respect and creating an environment people can last in, you are incorrect, respectable companies can, and do just that. I understand there are places that are worse, but this is not a warehouse job, we provide tech support for a media giant.

I think this guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is a true story from the Word Perfect Helpline which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the customer care department. Needless to say the HelpDesk employee was fired; however he/she is currently suing the WordPerfect organization for "Termination without Cause."

Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee:

"------- computer assistance; may I help you?"

"Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."

"What sort of trouble?"

"Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."

"Went away?"

"They disappeared."

"Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?"

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

"It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."

"Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?"

"How do I tell?"

"Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?"

"What's a sea-prompt?"

"Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?"

"There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type."

"Does your monitor have a power indicator?"

"What's a monitor?

"It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?"

"I don't know."

"Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?"

"Yes, I think so."

"Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall."

"Yes, it is."

"When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?"

"No."

"Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."

"Okay, here it is."

"Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."

"I can't reach."

"Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?"

"No."

"Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?"

"Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark."

"Dark?"

"Yes -the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window."

"Well, turn on the office light then."

"I can't."

"No? Why not?"

"Because there's a power failure."

"A power... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?"

"Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."

"Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it.
Then take it back to the store you bought it from."

"Really? Is it that bad?"

"Yes, I'm afraid it is."

"Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?"

"Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

"Incompetence award". In my eyes it's called trashing other departments. Yep, we are all in the same boat, maybe you should have thought of that before writing what you wrote, but I guess you had a bad day at work that day... happens.

Then ban those IP's from your blog. If this site enables you to do so. The message board on the www.organizetsg.com site allows for IP filtering, and a whole assortment of other fun features. Why dont you come on board and join the fun. The real party is at www.organizeTSG.com. And you have an ingraved invite.

suntexnik, I am with you. I totally agree with everything that you said. What kind of idiots do we have working with us? Those, who bitch about their job and want to unionize for "respect." What kind of BS is it?
If you want respect, you got to earn it. Put yourself in manager's shoes one day and only then you will be respected. Build your own company and others will respect you. Become CEO and other will listen to you and every word that you say.
Like I said before, want union, quit and and go work for union company and leave rest of us alone. To the guy who said that he put too much time in this company , and now cablevision has to repay him. I am sorry, but look around. You were dumb enough to stay for so long and not look for another job.
Now to you Peter Gibbons. The movie whose name you chose as SN has nothing to do with unions. Dream on thief. Unionize yourself or quit. Why do we need to unionize? If you want normal way of life, find yourself a better paying job. All you union guys tell people are white lies. You claim that all will be perfect. All your words are BS and have no proof behind it.

P.S. Peter, I already know who you are, but I could care less about idiots like you.

ya, I guess I missed that big sign in training that stated this is a steeping stone job and 90% of my fellow techs, including myself, will end up leaving, or getting terminated, because of a harsh system. There is no future here. Do not think all were, or are bad techs, in fact in many cases it's the opposite. it's a system that nobody can endure for any length of time. I did recently get out you pathetic loser, who said I wasn't looking for a job. It's so easy with a family and mortgage to just quit with nothing lined up because you cannot take anymore, and managemnt will do nothing to help you. Besides, If you did not notice the IT field was horrible for 3 years and is slowly picking up genius. Again there is no respect in that all management does is for their year end bonus because of ASA, nothing else, yes there has to be metrics, and nobody was for putting them out of business, but they can surely raise the times a bit to alleviate burnout. Like our current government, I guess you are all for illegals crossing the border because they love cheap labor and do nothing about it, bringing down our lifestyle and why salaries have been stagnant. Companies like cablevision are making more money than ever, just get rid of whats losing money..Knicks, Rangers, large bonuses, monopoly campaigns..etc...you will go before that happens if you are not a machine. If you are not for a union the way things are here, and again I am not saying all places need one if there is an environment you can last and grow in..don't give me nonsense about gaining respect here, It doesn't work unless you are well liked. What other leverage does an employee have, how many shitty jobs do we have to hop to and from before you realize you can no longer make a living because of our gov't turning a blind eye to everything and comapnies like Cablevision, Wal-Mart, etc. taking advantage of workers for billions in profit and lucrative raises/bonuses.

I guess it's a lie that all people in unions make more money, have better benefits, stay with their jobs longer, are happier etc.....what an ass clown, good luck asking for this yourself.

GO GET A JOB IN A UNION SHOP IF YOU WANT TO WORK UNION, WE HAVE NO FAVORITISM HERE, ONLY SLACKERS.
Just listen to yourself, you're a joke.

Also, in case you didnt know, ITS ILLEGAL TO FORCE WORKERS TO WORK FREE, Thats why the US Dept of Labor is still investigating Cablevisions labor and wage practices. So why dont you go and write someone up for surfing google or something.

Peter has another job...

yet still keeps coming on these sites and pushing his garbage.

Hey MR. IT guy.. go away already, noone cared about the organizetsg board, noone cares about unionizing except you and the three other jackasses who got fired. You said it yourself, if you dont like your job, find another one, when you do, forget about the other one.

no.. im not management, no i am not a lead, im a phone tech like you, with multiple years on the job, just shut your mouth and do your job. Welcome to the new america.

The system is not as "harsh" as you make it seem, youve just got to do your job right. If you dont like taking calls.. buhbye. And if you needed a sign in training to tell you that this ISSSSSSSSSSSS a go nowhere job, i feel bad for you, because it is. Tech support is for IT rookies, noone goes to school for 4 years for their BS in Comp. Science and works for TSG.. what the hell is the matter with you, go back to your tech school, or your first career, (remember BOCES in '82?, back in HS?).

The sad fact is that NOONE in the US has the job security that our parents had (or you, the oldies reading this who work in tsg). The idea is to be happy youre working and collect that paycheck, if its not enough (we all know it NEVER is) then find another job.

American Labor Movement... what a joke, do you think the majority of americans are concerned with a labor movement, or whos on American Idol or some other lame ass media crazed trend? Unfortunatly the american government has us by the balls. if you wanna fight the good fight how about mobilizing the people to lower taxes that are just spent fighting a war in Iraq... you know so we could have lower gas prices?

do your 8 hours, be thankful its not 10 in a coal mine, go home and see your kids.. if you cant provide for them, get a second job, another job or stop having kids LOL

enough already peter.

At 6:10 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I did not expect to be on the phones eternally, I expected to move up to lead, sup, another department, something....had the knowledge, certs, experience, schooling and several of my sups agreed, some were just worried about themselves. I got along with everyone.. but it was management and their ridiculous phone stats that took it's toll over time. A write up for signing in 1 minute late 6 times in 3-4 months, when we had old pc's that took forever to sign in all the databases, are you kidding me.0ver 30 seconds on that hour, you were considered late. It's funny how we won a class action lawsuit for that, and I am sure you will take that check when doing nothing about it...clown. Then calling spoc 15 minutes late on 3 other occassions, again within 3-4 months for various emergencies and was part of the same write up. I was written up for the birth of my daughter because they could not offer me anything else as far as time off. I was there 10 months as a perm and 5 as a temp and not the 12 as a perm they required. Of course I had to use my whole 5 days accumulated, then when I was sick months later, came in with a doctors note for 3 days, was written up for no time because I had to use it all for my daughter, and of course personal time, because 8 minutes a day is just a fucking joke with a non stop call volume, no paid lunch. I Think I only had one verbal warning before all this, 5 steps is something new and started after union talk. So what does ones attitude become after all that heartless bullshit. I now couldn't apply for another position for 6 months, but no, it was a year before I could submit, because it affects your yearly review and if below average, which it was due to the weit up, you have to wait another year, but it's too late anyway, because you are not this perfect mold they expect and hold it against you, you are now branded as a slacker. Was I supposed to start kissing ass, and love my managers after all that...LOL, I sure did and gave them 8 hours and nothing else. I was never treated like that in all my working years. You see, they only care for ASA and anyone that might affect that number in a negative way, whether it's a death, birth, personal time needed, they hold it against you. They don't care who you are and what your issues are Just their fucking ASA, Management just wants their 50,000 (probably more) dollar bonus on top of their 6 figure salary and just run around like chickens when the numbers are out of control, and they usually are. They would rather you rush a call than fix an issue and have someone praise you..is that the secret to moving up?? You can't have it both ways...they would rather hire from outside, and in some cases, promote people less qualified...what a joke that place is/was and if you are an average tech, I feel for you in not seeing how miserably run this place is/was and how we are pushed like pathetic ants. You call me a loser for staying so long when you just mentioned you have been there years, what is your excuse? I guess you like bending over for them. It seems like everyone I knew agreed, where were you? in a manager's office or a sups booth. So glad I am gone.

P.S in response to:
do your 8 hours, be thankful its not 10 in a coal mine, go home and see your kids.. if you cant provide for them, get a second job, another job or stop having kids LOL

Ya, the labor movement put and end to that otherwise we still would be idiot, but unions are so bad right, so just give in and work 5 jobs why don't you and do nothing about it, but I am sure you would accept any benefit from the work other people have to do for you if it did happen right....spineless rat. The people you so easily call jackasses that have been let go had more balls and were better techs than you will ever be. These guys realized that and were not afraid to stand up and demand a change, they knew they could work elsewhere, but the spineless ones sit back and know they have no leverage. The IT market is picking up, you can leave now, but I guess you somehow love working here.

At 6:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I am telling you this idiot who thinks nothing can ever change and we just have to be good little boys and girls and comply, is not an average tech on the phones. He somehow won ther lottery and moved up, or he is one of a handful that actually feel this way, you are definately the minority my friend.....people are just scared to do anything for various reasons and feel they need to be tortured because they can't get another job. Just Let the Illegals do our work, I would love to see BPA hold up to that...LOL

At 6:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just not afraid of them, and that is what seperates the men from the children here....enough is enough already! They are scared shit of union talk, but I guess those high priced anti-union lawyers are a speed dial away..keep your workers surpressed, comply, conform, resistance is futile or else..

Hey MR. IT guy.. go away already, noone cared about the organizetsg board, noone cares about unionizing except you and the three other jackasses who got fired.

Yes I did find another job, and yes I still come to these boards. I made it my business to support those that continue the fight. So no one cares about organizeTSG.com? Have you checked the site counter lately? My last look showed 7100 hits, and most of them are from TSG. I can say that for sure because I used to have access to the sites stats. In fact the number two IP to frequent the site is Cablevisions IP, yup management cant stay off that site.
As for the techs that were fired, they were better techs and better men that you can ever dream of being.

You said it yourself, if you dont like your job, find another one, when you do, forget about the other one.

no.. im not management, no i am not a lead, im a phone tech like you, with multiple years on the job, just shut your mouth and do your job. Welcome to the new america.

Jeez what a moron to ever say crap like that. If your there so long, and not management, and perfectly happy being on the phones 40 strait hours you must be a mental case. But obviously you have to at least be on the cake and pizza committe, or the paper hangers of TSG club to survive so long and still be so deleriously happy with that company.

The system is not as "harsh" as you make it seem, youve just got to do your job right. If you dont like taking calls.. buhbye.

And how many calls do you take a day? for real, no bullshit. How much time do you spend passing out pizza?

And if you needed a sign in training to tell you that this ISSSSSSSSSSSS a go nowhere job, i feel bad for you, because it is.

Yes its a nowhere job, AND YOURE STILL WORKING THERE HA HA!

The sad fact is that NOONE in the US has the job security that our parents had (or you, the oldies reading this who work in tsg). The idea is to be happy youre working and collect that paycheck, if its not enough (we all know it NEVER is) then find another job.

Yes thats true, we can thank all the chicken shit ass kissers like you who have no guts to standup and fight for something. Its apathy from people like you that have lowered the standard of living between our liftime and that of our parents, and reduced job security to being non existant. Even on my new job I am still an "at will" employee. And as such there is no contract, grievance procedure or job security. Its people like you that are happy to simply collect a weekly check, and get a second job, or stop having kids. Some of us want more, deserve more , and will fight for more. Especially from a major media giant like Cablevision that can sure as shit afford to do better by their employees.

American Labor Movement... what a joke, do you think the majority of americans are concerned with a labor movement,

You actually should be bitch slapped for that one asswhipe. Our jobs continue to be bled off every year and you think its a joke. FU!

The reason why we lose jobs are union and costs associated with them Take a look GM, major airlines. In order to survive, they lower benefits that make it impossible for companies to survive today and keep their current employees employed today. GM is shipping some of their cars from China to US where they are not required to provide benefits for their employees. For thouse of you , who support unions. Think about it. It takes Cablevision only 6 month to have fully functional call center in India, while it takes over 1 year to unionize a company. Plus most of you will be fired or forced to assist in training techs, who will get your job. Now peter please leave us alone with your crazy union idea. Unions are the thing of the past. Today most unions give up their positions (airlines and GM) to keep their members even employed. You said it yourself that you have another job. LEAVE US ALONE. It is no longer your business what we do here. I pay mortgage and support my kids, and i agree this job burns, thats why I never stopped looking for another job. Still at no time in my life i would support someone stealing my money like all unions do. One day of fame for them ( unions) and paying daily to these thiefs. I don't care that owners make billions and pay millions to rangers, knicks, etc. They built this company and it is their business as to how to spend their money. Don't be jelous of them. Think of a new idea and build your own business. Union will just stop you.

At 6:44 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The reason why we are losing jobs is our governments global economy policy and love for cheap labor, removing rights of the average worker, undoing everything we fought hard for in the 80's. They are all for businesses and not the working man. We have to bring our standard of living down to the rest of the 3rd world because we are forced to, Unions are only trying to preserve what little american way of life we have left. Please do not be so hindsighted in what you are trying to preach. It's because of chicken shit americans like you that we let our employers do this. Things have come around full circle and another labor movement is on it's way in america, soon enough, if not already, you will be struggling to make ends meet, no matter how many jobs you have. Please see the bigger picture so many fail to.

ps. unions are not getting rich from your 40 dollar due payment, they need it to run, they are closely watched by several government agencies. Besided look at all the benefits they fight hard to get the employees. Soon enough, there will be nothing but Wal-Marts and companies like Cablevision that throw employees away at the toss of a dime...then how do you make a living?

No youre not crying, but you do make a good trustee. You kiss ass real good, you make excuses for managements every blunder, and you unquestionably accept your situation as beyond your control, and therefore unchangeable. At least we had the brass balls to challenge the system, you just go along with the flow hoping to catcha crumb on your plate.

That's strange how you protect unions while in the last 50 yrs all unions were main source of income for mafia. Remember jimmy who disappeared in the 70's actually disappeared after meeting mobster. Btw its not $40 a month , its $40 every 2 weeks, even when you spent 1 week on vocation. Try to get it back. Trust me you won't. Take a look at MTA union leaders and their hands. They are softer than baby's hands because they never worked for money. They could care less about employees all they care is how to increase their income. They own large estates and cars and you were saying that these money that they collect were necessary for day- to - day operations? To prove my point of unions actually destroying US labor, take a look at people working at the docks who went on strike to increase their salary from 120k to 150k. These people who have no college degree, work few hours a day crippled US economy for several month. What is the difference between them and few guys from mexico working in a grocery store for 12-14 hours , earning $3-5 an hour and these guys actually do their job. In addition that most of them risked their lives even to cross our border. In my opinion a dock worker should at most earn $10 an hour since they have no education.

Ya, I know all unions are corrupt and the mafia is involved..yada, yada, yada...keep watching them movies pal with your free cable...LOL. Unions have changed drastically from the 70's when mafia did infiltrate a few. But that was cleaned up years ago. You are talking about the past and a brief part of the past. The are watched more closely than ever, not to say there could still be accounting irregularities, but businesses do the same thing and more often. Unions have changed to keep pace with the ever-changing work environment and there is nothing more powerful than a strong union that the workers build. You can go on and on about how unions destroyed our econmoy and job market, truth is..it's all false. They have nothing to do with it. How can you blame unions for that. You can bring up exmples of the auto industry but that is a saturated global industry, to many makers, one in almost every country and yes unions will have to improvise to compete in that sector as well as the airlines that lose money regardless of unions or not... again there are to many carriers..does not mean workers here in the U.S do not deserve a better living, our forfathers fought hard for that and we are losing that pride every day. Again it's because of the new global economy and cheap labor our current administration loves so dearly....oh and people like you that sit back and do nothing. Why would I try to get my 40 dollar due payment back?? You make it sound like it's going to break the bank even if it's 80 a month. In return you can have a better percentage of health covered, better wage, better work conditions, more family timeand in 90% of jobs get just that. The truth is them workers at them docks did get their invcrease, not as much as they wanted of course, but they stuck together and eventually made people listen. Education does not have to equal making a decent living, and we as americans prove that every day. Hard work can get you there also and them docks are where every economy begins. You can run for president and determine what everyone should earn, try working as a dock worker if you think it's so easy. Someone realized they had to give in to keep the goods flowing and it proved when workers stick together you can make things better. You will never do so otherwise. Companies are now geared to take advantage of anyone that walks through the door and an employee is at their mercy. Profit margins are bigger than any other time in our history for corporations. Workers just want the chance to earn a living in the U.S. or we might as well call ourselves China.

What is the difference between them and few guys from mexico working in a grocery store for 12-14 hours , earning $3-5 an hour and these guys actually do their job. In addition that most of them risked their lives even to cross our border. In my opinion a dock worker should at most earn $10 an hour since they have no education.

The difference is the illegals you so highly praise do not pay taxes, utilize our resources at our expense moron. Of course they will work harder for a loaf of bread on the table, when you are working to meet your monthly mortgage payment...see the difference??? My answer is keep them in Mexico, tighten up the borders and have them come across legally, like my parents did from europe. So we should bring this great nation and it's legal citizens down to thal level...not me and I will leave before that happens.

We do not need a union if they had some understanding and listened to what their employees were saying, but do you think they ever will listen or care? Why shouldn't a company care about it's employees and whom they have working for them, many respectable companies do care about that. I guess they would rather have someone dishing out free credit to customerrs...LOL. These idiots with their nonsense responses are admitting the company does not care for their workers, but are for profit only, that is the way you would run your business?....good luck, you will have the same issues this place suffers from. You have to earn respect?, 3 years on them dreaded phones as one of your better technical techs is not enough. Respect is non-existant and favortism/Brown nosing to get off the phones flourishes at cablevision.

I don't care that owners make billions and pay millions to rangers, knicks, etc. They built this company and it is their business as to how to spend their money.

I care if it affects what I have to do as far as ridiculous expectations only to maximize profit and support all this.

First of all, that’s one hell of a sentence, yeesh. I am assuming your new job is not editing. Secondly, how do you know what I do or how I feel? Don't try to put words in my mouth.
I said nothing about management and I kiss no ass. I DO MY JOB AND DON'T CRY ABOUT IT.

At least we had the brass balls to challenge the system, you just go along with the flow hoping to catcha crumb on your plate.

Brass balls? An internet message board? Little strips of paper hidden around the building? Begging for signatures? Give me a fucking break. You’re a chicken hawk wannabe. Have you ever been a part of a REAL movement? You have no idea who I am or what I have done so don't act like your Abbie Hoffman, because you're not.

I am not Anti-union for the outside techs I am anti union for TSG. Do you see those jackasses they hire? How is that going to get any better with a union? It's not. So go see your kids and enjoy the time you have when you aren't working for the "movement" or your new boss.

Unions have changed drastically from the 70's when mafia did infiltrate a few. But that was cleaned up years ago.

Obviously this guy isn't a Sicilian LOL. "and the Romans.. where are they now"...."you’re lookin at em asshole"

So let's say the hiring process doesn't get any better, ok... but everything else does...attracting better caliber techs, time to complete your work and not burnout, a place someone can retire...why wouldn't it work, I think it would, problem is, you are not even willing to try??????

I dont understand what you are asking...

what you guys dont understand is that we are NOT TECHS per se, we are phone reps troubleshooting idiotic problems HOPING to get into a real tech position. Its a scrub job, I know it, most of you know it, but apparently Peter thinks that we are in a specialized field where NOONE else can do our jobs, its a joke.

As for the outside techs, I agree with CVWNR.com's Keith Franco (who is no longer with the company & a close friend of mine). Those dudes are breaking ass climbing poles, going into scummy houses (with the customers YOU blew off and set up TC's for) and acually being treated unfairly. We are sitting on our asses talking on the phone, give it a rest already, move on.

The Roman comment was meant for a select few who are reading the board, point is, the mafia is still heavily involved in unions.

There are people who are begging to work at ALL, you just sound like a bunch of children. If you or a majority of people really wanted to put their asses on the line, they would. And it wouldent be through the chickenshit methods that Peter & Co have already done. Sign your card, sssh its a big secret.

So I guess a warehouse packer in a unionized position doesn't deserve it, because no one else can do that job either...listen to yourself...doesn't matter who can do a job or how easy it is, it's getting respect in doing it, no matter what the field or how difficult it is....How can you possibly be a friend of Keith Franco's with that philosophy only certain fields deserve unions? gotta admit, that big hairy Italian guy that visits all the job sites is proof of mafia involvement in every union....ridiculous!

At 12:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I am a friend of Keith's and we have spoken in great depth on the subject, and he happens to agree with me.

The clandestine method that has been used by our pro union friends is no way to get respect. Learn from Keith’s boys, those fuckers got out in the streets, put up stickers and RALLIED for their cause.

I never gave ANY proof of mafia involvement, but don't be naive its there and its also irrelevant, it doesn’t change the fact that TSG does not need a union. Be happy you even have a job because you already know how easy it is for CV to just move our bullshit call center to India.

I just sense you are a friend of management and just saying keep it away from here, and reflecting it back to another department so it's their problem. Why are you so quick to respond as if you are continually monitoring and speaking on behalf of management... why would you refer to them field techs as fuckers if you claim they were doing the right thing? I am willing to accept them moving the call center to India if they feel there is no other way to make this place better/tolerable...you obviously are not, I will find something else. Stop making it sound so easy to outsource, It is anything but that and read about companies that have tried and took on more costs than they though it would be. They dread the thought of it, and know all they have in place will have to be changed, they would have to be willing to relocate, if not give up their position altogether, and you know how much management loves changing anything that affects them in any way. I know, and most others can see through that all bullshit also. Lucky to be working at all, more like a prison sentence or a bad nightmare. We were alongside Franco before the vote and the lies to squash the vote, and he was all for every department organizing. It now has to be done secretly because we all know what this company does to squash the effort. We are learning from past mistakes.

was this clown a spy at the meeting last week?

Ya, you're a friend of Franco's alright...probably T-Lo...LOL... How can anyone that's on the phones 8 hours a day, in their right mind defend this company and what it does to it's employees. You are either the biggest loser that has lost any credentials he may, or may not have once had, or you're a certain sup, lawyer or management killing any start of a drive, end of story. This company treats everyone like shit, except those welcomed in the club from brown nosing, and that is every department. You cannot possibly be happy with yourself and how you are squeezed for everylast breath, and there is no way you have a family and mortgage unless you are living in poverty. You must live at home with mom and dad, because that is what this company is attracting and I guess the only way someone can think it's alright to work here. Ya, they want to be number one in everything, so why don't they treat you as if you were that caliber? They would rather treat you like high school kids.

Its funny how every time you bring your kids and mortgage. First of all I have kids, live in my own house and pay my mortgage. I work for this company and I respect each and every employee. We are all in the same boat. As a reminder for you, union supporters, your parents worked 12 hour plus shifts on 2+ jobs to make living and you have guts to complain about your work? I work for this company and have small ebay business on the side (which takes more time out of my life than my work at CV). I pay taxes. I am not a big spender and save my money, not spend it for new set of dubs for my car. The money and benefits I get are enough for me and my family to live by. I see no point for a union. Union is for lazy asses only and I am not of a lazy bunch. If you so much hate your job or its working conditions that you so much want to change go work for another company or instead put your solution into solution box in cafeteria. I don't think they will check it for fingerprints or if you are so scared, use gloves :O). Peter if you are no longer CV employee it is not your business to tell us what to do. My guess you were fired and not for your dumb attempts to unionize tsg. Take your blind fold off . As you can see. We have no need for a union. I agree some things need to change, but it doesn't take union to make this change. I better off have those $80 a month for my kids than to give it to a union so some union leader can tip his waitress in a restaurant.
In re to dock worker's strike. Their strike cost businesses billions and who do you think is paying for it now. ALL OF US.
In conclusion. for those of you , who support unions- get a life. Go work for verizon which has a union. Otherwise leave us alone

Now did you buy that house on your own without any help....

I agree some things need to change, but it doesn't take union to make this change.

And do you think those changes will ever happen otherwise? Try the so called open door policy, try it...it will be put in the wastebasket after you walk out the door and you will be labeled a troublemaker..not in a million years, your management will change nothing to improve your lifestyle or that horrible environment, I know that company to well, the only change they will make is something added to make you do more in the same amount of time. I agree maybe a union is not needed, but what other way is their? Can you request it on your own with nobody speaking on everyones behalf...who will have the nerve to speak for everyone..will it be you? Nobody has the nerve. You're afraid of giving up 80 dollars a month when you can get so much more in return, and again nobody is asking to break the bank..just better conditions. If you are willing to stand up for it. ya, you can try putting it in that suggestion box you mention.
